Man Utd splash out mega fee for Carlos Baleba

Manchester United have officially secured Carlos Baleba from Brighton in a deal worth around €82 million, completing one of the window’s biggest midfield moves. The 20‑year‑old has signed a five‑year contract with an option for an additional season, becoming the club’s fourth summer arrival after Andrey Santos, Karl Darlow and Youri Tielemans.

Baleba leaves Brighton following three seasons and 112 appearances, having established himself as one of the Premier League’s most dynamic young midfielders. His transfer pushes United’s total summer spending close to €200 million as the club continues reshaping its squad under Michael Carrick. Baleba expressed his excitement at joining what he called his “dream club,” adding that playing at Old Trafford as a United player will be a “true honour.” He also praised Carrick’s experience and believes the manager can help elevate his game to the highest level. United expect Baleba to play a central role in their long‑term midfield rebuild.
