Estrela de Amadora have entered a new era after selling 90% of their sporting company to a German investment group that includes Thomas Müller, Yann Sommer and Mats Hummels. The €40 million takeover marks a record figure for Portuguese football and transforms the Lisbon‑area club, founded in 1923 and currently competing in the Primeira Liga. According to A Bola, the deal was finalised this week, with Johannes Mosmang set to become president after more than a decade working at Bayern Munich. Francisco Lopo will serve as CEO, continuing the work begun by his father Paulo, who rescued the club in 2020 for just €72,000 and guided its rise back to the top flight.

Müller, now with Vancouver Whitecaps, Sommer of Club Brugge and recently retired Hummels join the consortium aiming to elevate Estrela’s ambitions. For the historic club, once winner of the 1990 Portuguese Cup, the takeover represents a transformative milestone.
