Marseille held on for a 2-2 home draw against Monaco

Fourth position even with nine players remaining at the Stade Velodrome on Saturday, Monaco came dangerously close to winning when Russian midfielder Aleksandr Golovin missed a late opportunity. Seasoned attackers Wissam In the first half, Ben Yedder and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored goals. Seven minutes in, Ben Yedder gave Monaco the lead with a thunderous finish after going on Golovin's wonderful lofted ball. Shortly after, Chilean centre defender Guillermo Maripan dragged back forward Vitinha, reducing Monaco to 10 players.

Then, in the 34th minute, Marseille defender Jonathan Clauss was forced out due to a right knee injury. Aubameyang equalised four minutes later when Vitinha's strike struck the post and Aubameyang was deemed offside by the video review. Three minutes into first-half stoppage time, however, Aubameyang foolishly misplaced the ball on the outside of his own penalty area, allowing Ben Yedder to surge forward and set up midfielder Maghnes Akliouche for a curler into the bottom left corner.
