Qatar have got a Spanish influence

Even though Qatar boss Felix Sànchez Bas has lived in Doha for 12 years, he has very much stayed under the radar.

This all changed on 1 February, however, when he led the Middle East country to a historic Asian Cup win. He is now considered to be a genuine idol and people flock to him to have their pictures taken alongside Sànchez Bas wherever he goes.

Before this tournament, they had only won six of the 39 games they had played and had only reached the quarter-finals twice before - in 2000 and 2011.

But it's not just the fact that the 13th ranked team in Asia won the competition, they did it as they had a solid defensive structure, an all-round excellent tactical display and, of course, nine goals scored by Ali Almoez, the tournament's top scorer. All staff of Qatari's National team comes from Spain as well.
