Jude Bellingham's magical start to his Real Madrid career continued with a stoppage-time winner at the Santiago Bernabeu against Champions League debutants Union Berlin. After failing to find a way past the tenacious Bundesliga side, the hosts were doomed for a painful goalless draw.
However, England international Bellingham converted from close range with almost the final kick of the Group C battle to record his sixth goal in as many games and all three points in Carlo Ancelotti's side's 1-0 victory. Real controlled possession in the first half but struggled to break down Union, who fought tenaciously and were superbly marshaled at the back by veteran Italian defender Leonardo Bonucci, a summer transfer from Juventus. Joselu, Antonio Rudiger, and Rodrygo all squandered late scoring chances against Union, but the German defense was broken when Real Madrid midfielder Bellingham scored on his Champions League debut.
