Roma straight win by 2-1 over Salernitana

After replacing manager Jose Mourinho on January 16, De Rossi defeated Verona in his debut game. Both Lorenzo Pellegrini and Paulo Dybala's goals in the second half gave him his second victory. The capital club moved up three spots to take fifth position in the rankings. After Giulio Maggiore fouled Gianluca Mancini, Dybala scored from the penalty spot to give the visitors the lead in the 51st minute.

Fifteen minutes later, Pellegrini extended Roma's lead by taking advantage of some shoddy defence. He knocked in a cross from Rick Karsdorp at the far post after the Salernitana defence left him unguarded. Four minutes later, Grigoris Kastanos headed one back, but Salernitana lost their fourth straight league game. The Salerno-based team has not triumphed against Roma since 1999 and has stayed at the bottom of Serie A, five points below Empoli, who are now in second place.
