Torino’s 1-0 win over Lazio

The outcome gives Juventus the opportunity to pass Lazio and move up into second position if they defeat clear-cut favourites Napoli in today's crucial fixture. With 75 points, Napoli leads Serie A, followed by Lazio on 61, Juventus on 59 after having a 15-point deduction for illegal transfer activity reversed, and Roma on 56 to round out the top four. Lazio, under Maurizio Sarri, had won their previous four Serie A contests and had gone eight games without a loss.

Luis Alberto, a midfielder, and Felipe Anderson, a striker, both made their 200th appearances for the Romans at their Stadio Olimpico. Ilic slipped into the area just before halftime and blasted past Lazio custodian Ivan Provedel, who really ought to have done better. Ciro Immobile, an Italian striker, had been hospitalised earlier in the week, but Sarri took the audacious choice to insert him into the game just after the half.
