Its 34th edition will take place between 13/01/24 and 14/02/24 and the host country will be Côte d'Ivoire.
The last edition of the tournament was held in 2021 and the final between Senegal and Egypt was won by the Senegalese. Cameroon centre-forward Vincent Aboukakar was the tournament's top scorer with 8 goals. Senegal's Sadio Mané was named best player.
For the 2024 edition, the African Cup will feature 24 teams divided into six groups of four. Egypt will also be taking part to extend their dominance of the tournament, having won seven titles and are the all-time winners. As far as the dates are concerned, the original idea was to hold the tournament in 2023. However, the opening match was changed due to the intense heat of the Ivorian summer.
The first edition of the CAN took place in 1957 and featured just three teams: Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan.
