Al Horford just made his ultimate decision on his future with the Celtics

Al Horford's tenure with the Boston Celtics is coming to an end as he has signed a multi-year contract with the Golden State Warriors. Horford will begin his 19th NBA season as the starting center for the Warriors, having spent seven of the previous nine years with Boston and won the 2024 championship. If not for the protracted and unresolved contract discussions between the Warriors and restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga, his departure probably would have occurred sooner.

Horford had a memorable seven seasons in Boston. Each year, the Celtics advanced to the NBA Finals twice and to the Eastern Conference Finals five times. Naturally, Horford's greatest accomplishment was assisting the team in winning its 18th championship in 2024. Horford played in 584 games over his two spells with the Celtics (2016–19 and 2021–25). When the Warriors visit TD Garden for the first time on March 18, fans will get another chance to see him.
