The Boston Celtics are exploring trade options for guard Anfernee Simons, who arrived earlier in the offseason in the Jrue Holiday deal. Despite his scoring ability, Boston appears ready to move on from the 26-year-old, who is owed $100 million. According to Hoops Wire’s Sam Amico, the Philadelphia 76ers and Denver Nuggets have shown interest, while the Milwaukee Bucks are also expected to pursue him before training camp. A deal with Milwaukee, however, would be complicated given the fierce rivalry between the two Eastern Conference powers.
The Bucks could use another scoring guard to pair with Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Simons’ profile fits. Last season he averaged 19.3 points, 4.8 assists, and shot 36.3 percent from three. While several teams are circling, the Celtics have yet to find the right offer — and may need patience to get it.
