From the beginning, Gallinari was destined to play a significant role in the Celtics' rotation. He would probably start as the main big wing off the bench. It was anticipated that Gallinari and Malcolm Brogdon would team up to provide Boston with the bench production they badly missed at times last season. Brad Stevens and the front office team will need to look at what players are already on the roster to replace Gallinari if they find that free agency offers no other solutions.
Grant Williams would play a lot even when Gallinari was available. Williams may now be required to play even more. While Gallinari is out, Williams is likely to play between 28 and 30 minutes per game. There is nothing wrong with Grant Williams, who is a good defender.
