Cavaliers’ F. Max Strus's absence is expected to last at least six weeks

The Cavaliers claim that Max Strus hurt his ankle during individual exercises on Thursday. The extent of the injuries was established by an MRI and X-ray. After six weeks of therapy and rehabilitation, Strus will have another evaluation. Early in the preseason, Strus had a hip ailment that hindered him.

During his debut season with the Cavaliers, Strus, 28, averaged 12.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in 70 games. After playing with the Miami Heat during his first three seasons, Strus established himself as a dependable reserve and sometimes starter. After the 2022–2023 season, he left as a free agent and signed a sign-and-trade deal with the Heat to join the Cavaliers. After playing in 259 games (119 starts) over five seasons with the Chicago Bulls (2019–20), Heat (2020–23), and Cavaliers, Strus has career averages of 10.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. Cleveland takes on the host Toronto Raptors in the season's first game.
