Celtics are meeting with forwards TJ Warren and Lamar Stevens

The Celtics currently have two available roster spaces following Justin Champagnie's waiver earlier this month. For these available positions, Warren and Stevens will both contend. Both players will meet and train with the Celtics later this week, the Shams report said. The Celtics need more depth up front, especially with Grant Williams gone. Although the Celtics may sign both Warren and Stevens, it's more probable that they would sign only one of them and look to a guard for their last roster place. What merits do Warren and Stevens provide in light of the foregoing?

Warren has played for the Brooklyn Nets, Indiana Pacers, and Phoenix Suns. In the Kevin Durant deal from the previous year, Warren was sent back to the Suns after playing for the Nets. With the Pacers in the 2019–20 season, Warren was a superb isolation scorer in his peak, scoring over 20 points per game.
