Game 1 of the 2025–26 NBA preseason saw the Boston Celtics travel to Memphis to play the Grizzlies. With a fresh roster, Boston's new era got off to a great start as they defeated the host team, the Grizz, 121-103, by outplaying and outworking them. Derrick White, the starting point guard, finished with 16 points and 10 assists, while Jaylen Brown scored 21 points in just 20 minutes and sat the whole second half. Brown, White, Hauser, Boucher, and Tillman were the starting five for the new Celtics when they started the game.
Jordan Walsh opened with a breakaway dunk, giving Boston a 9-point first-quarter lead at 27-18. Late entries Josh Minott and Scheierman made immediate impacts, with Minott adding a dunk and a layup as Boston surged to 35-22, finishing the quarter shooting 55% from the field.
