Brooklyn Nets were without many key players as they faced Raptors rookie on Monday. Barnes was on fire with his 28 points and a season-high 16 rebounds while he led Toronto with a 133-97 triumph over Nets in the opener of a home-and-home series. Barnes barrage powered Raptors to lead the match by as many as 39 points at one point, and he added nine offensive rebounds as well.
Raptors also saw Precious Achiuwa score 20 points and eight rebounds as they overcame the absence of All-Star guard Fred VanVleet who was sidelined with a sore right knee. Both the teams would meet again on Tuesday which would probably be Nets' last game without Durant, who is set to make a return after missing many matches with a sprained left knee ligament.
