Hornets defeat Lakers, LeBron James and Anthony Davis sit out due to injuries

The Charlotte Hornets defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 117-114 on Friday night, with Miles Bridges scoring 26 points and Ish Smith adding 22 points on 10-of-12 shooting off the bench. At the conclusion of regulation, Russell Westbrook had a choice to make: drive to the basket and attempt to force overtime, or pull the trigger on a 3-pointer and go for the win. Westbrook tried for the victory with 0.7 seconds remaining, but his jumper didn't fall, resulting in another Los Angeles Lakers loss.

Due to injury, LeBron James and Anthony Davis did not participate in the Lakers' defeat to the Hornets on Friday night. With pain in his left knee, James missed his second consecutive game. Davis sat out with a strained right wrist after returning earlier this week after a 17-game layoff due to a damaged MCL in his left knee.
