Due to retirement rumours, Ben Simmons, a three-time NBA All-Star, was recently fired by his agent, Bernie Lee. According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post, Lee made his choice after Simmons rejected the New York Knicks' offer of a free agent. "Simmons was recently dropped as a client by his agent, Bernie Lee. According to a source, the point guard's signals that he was uninterested in anything that emerged from his agent's discussions with the Knicks led to that choice," Bondy reported.
Simmons turned down the Knicks' offer of a one-year, minimum contract, according to NBA insider Marc Stein's report on Tuesday. Since then, though, a number of Knicks-affiliated insiders have stated that New York made no offer. Regardless, the Knicks and Boston Celtics were the only teams with reported interest in the former No. 1 pick. Ben Simmons is reportedly questioning his NBA future, having even considered retirement last summer while rehabbing a back injury.
