The New York Knicks faced a double loss on Wednesday night, falling to the Orlando Magic and losing star guard Jalen Brunson to an injury. Brunson sprained his right ankle in the final minutes of the game and exited after taking his free throws.
It has since been confirmed that Brunson suffered a Grade 1 right ankle sprain. As a result, he will miss his first game of the season against the Miami Heat on Friday and will be evaluated daily. Before the injury, Brunson was averaging an impressive 28.0 points and 6.5 assists per game.
Given the Knicks' upcoming schedule, which isn't overly demanding, it is anticipated that the team will not rush his return, prioritizing his full recovery before he rejoins the active lineup.
