Leaving behind Houston Rockets John Wall moves on to the next team this season as free-agent deal brews with Los Angeles Clippers. Wall would have received $47.4 million if he had stayed with the Rockets and exercised his player option for next year but in fact, would be taking $6.5 million less to a free agent. Rockets and Wall reached an agreement that he would join the free agency and the team would help maximize his options.
The veteran guard did not want to be part of the rebuilding roster and wanted to focus more on their younger guards Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green which left Walls out of the future plan for the Rockets even with the $44.3 million salary he was drawing. With the Clippers, Wall would play the role of a playmaker, and play alongside Kawhi Leonard who would be returning to the team next season.
