Malcolm Brogdon, a former Blazers guard, finds a new home

Former Portland Trail Blazers guard Malcolm Brogdon has agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Knicks. The New York Knicks have signed guard Malcolm Brogdon, a free agent, to a one-year contract. Brogdon, a former Sixth Man of the Year, is starting his tenth NBA season and provides the Knicks with vital backcourt depth and backup playmaking. Brogdon and Landry Shamet are one-year additions that will help complete the Knicks' roster.

Brogdon is anticipated to play a rotation role for new coach Mike Brown. In a career-low 24 games for the Washington Wizards last season, 32-year-old Brogdon averaged 12.7 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.8 rebounds. Brogdon hit 43% on 3-pointers from 2022–23 to 2023–24, ranking fourth in 3-point percentage among players trying at least 300 3-pointers during that time, after making a career-worst 29% of his 3-point tries the previous season.
