McBride frustrated as extension talks stall

Miles McBride hopes to remain with the New York Knicks long‑term, but the team’s refusal to cross the second tax apron has complicated negotiations. According to Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News, the 26‑year‑old guard is disappointed with the lack of progress as he enters the final season of his three‑year, $13 million deal. McBride said he is “a little disappointed” and hopes an agreement can be reached after playing through injuries.

Since arriving in the 2021 Draft, he has grown from a limited‑minutes reserve into a reliable rotation piece, jumping from 9.3 minutes as a rookie to 26.3 last season. In 2025‑26 he posted career highs: 12.0 points, 2.6 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 0.9 steals, shooting 42.3% overall and 41.3% from three. His role remained vital on a roster built around Jalen Brunson, Karl‑Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart, which delivered New York’s first title since 1973.
