A buzzer-beater by Chimezie Metu edged Sacramento Kings to a 95-94 triumph over the Dallas Mavericks in the opening match of the two-game set between the teams. Dallas was leading the match by 94-92 with just 33.2 seconds remaining on the clock. It all happened fast as Harrison Barnes missed a layup for Kings while the other side was called out on a 24-second violation.
Then came the magic moment Sacramento point guard De’Aaron Fox drove down the lane and passed to Metu who headed to the net and scored a three-pointer while the crowd at Golden 1 Center went wild in the background. Fox ended the day with 16 points and five assists, for Dallas Brunson scored 25 points and Porzingis scored 24 points and seven rebounds but still could not win.
