Mitchell says Harden’s greatness lacks only one thing

Donovan Mitchell believes James Harden’s legacy has been unfairly judged because he has never captured an NBA title. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the Cleveland Cavaliers guard said the veteran playmaker deserves to be discussed alongside the sport’s all-time greats despite the missing championship on his résumé.

Mitchell explained that becoming Harden’s teammate has only strengthened that belief. Watching him daily in training camp, he has been impressed by Harden’s leadership, competitive drive, attention to detail and relentless desire to improve. According to Mitchell, those qualities are visible in every practice session and throughout the team environment.

Cleveland acquired Harden from the Los Angeles Clippers at February’s trade deadline before re-signing him to a three-year extension. Last season, he averaged 23.6 points, 8.0 assists and 4.8 rebounds.

Mitchell also pointed to injuries and unfortunate timing, arguing that several playoff disappointments were shaped by circumstances beyond Harden’s individual control alone.
