NBA sidelines set for major shake‑up as coaching carousel looms

The NBA is bracing for one of its most dramatic coaching overhauls in recent memory, with reports suggesting that between eight and twelve teams could change head coach this summer. The projection marks a sharp contrast to last offseason, which saw only two full‑time replacements, Mike Brown taking over the Knicks and Jordan Ott joining the Suns, alongside interim confirmations for Tuomas Iisalo, David Adelman, Doug Christie and Mitch Johnson.

This year’s turbulence is driven by several unstable situations already unfolding. The Pelicans are operating under interim coach James Borrego after dismissing Willie Green, while Tiago Splitter is temporarily leading his team during Chauncey Billups’ leave amid a federal betting investigation.

Uncertainty also surrounds high‑profile names. Doc Rivers has openly acknowledged he may step away from Milwaukee, Jamahl Mosley’s position in Orlando appears increasingly fragile after a disappointing campaign, and even Steve Kerr enters the offseason without a guaranteed Warriors contract.
