Nets extend Sixers' losing streak

Tyrese Maxey's 3-pointer knotted the game, but the Nets decided not to call a timeout. When the bell rang, Claxton sprinted to the rebound, caught the 3-pointer in mid-air along the left side of the lane, and fired it in after Brooklyn's Keon Johnson missed it from the wing with two seconds left.

Despite only making one of nine 3-point attempts, Cameron Johnson led Brooklyn with 23 points. Claxton gave the Nets 16 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks, while Trendon Watford contributed 16 points off the bench. The Nets beat the Philadelphia 76ers 105-103. Quentin Grimes contributed 16 points, but Maxey led the Sixers with 31 points. Joel Embiid scored 14 points on 4 of 13 field goals as Philadelphia suffered its sixth consecutive defeat. Before the Sixers finally closed the gap to 83-76 going into the fourth quarter, the Nets had a 17-point lead early in the third quarter. Later they had a double-digit advantage for most of the second quarter as well, leading by as many as 17 points.
