The Denver Nuggets rallied to within one point on two Aaron Gordon free throws with 11 seconds left in regulation after falling behind as much as 14 points in Game 1 of their West semifinal series. Chet Holmgren had an opportunity to increase the advantage when the Nuggets fouled him on the subsequent inbounds pass, but he missed both, giving the Nuggets one chance to go all the way down the floor and perform some magic.
Russell Westbrook received the kick after Christian Braun recovered the miss. The Thunder legend-turned-Nuggets spark plug ran the wing and sped to the 3-point line after Gordon received a cross-court assist instead of driving straight into the paint. With 2.8 seconds remaining, Gordon halted, popped, and splashed a huge three-pointer to give Denver a two-point lead.
