The Phoenix Suns have informed veteran point guard Chris Paul that he will be released by the organisation even though the NBA Finals are still ongoing. Before Paul's contract expires on June 28th, the two sides have already begun discussions on his future squad.
On Wednesday, Paul's agent, Steven Heumann of CAA Sports, spoke with the Sun's management to examine possible prospects for a subsequent job. According to The Athletic, both parties are pursuing settlement options such as a trade, contract extension over several years, or full waiver with the possibility of re-signing the star guard in free agency. Paul showed a desire to play for several more years and a want to support a team that is in contention for a title, according to NBA league sources. Cameron Payne will be the sole point guard on the Suns' roster for the next season when the waiver procedure is complete.
