Zach LaVine scored a career-high 51 points, but Jalen Duren led the Detroit Pistons to a 118-102 victory on Saturday night. Duren finished with 23 points and 15 rebounds. With his performance, LaVine recorded the first 50-point game of the NBA season and became the first player from the Bulls to score 50 points without dishing out an assist since Michael Jordan in 1996 against the Miami Heat.
For the Pistons, Alec Burks scored 18 points off the bench and Cade Cunningham added 25 points and 10 assists. In Detroit's home opener, rookie Ausar Thompson finished with nine points, twelve rebounds, and five assists. While Bulls' DeMar DeRozan scored twenty points, Nikola Vucevic was the only player to score in double figures with twelve.
