Portland Trail Blazers Carmelo Anthony accepts bench with difficultly

Portland Trail Blazers forward Carmelo Anthony expressed taking the bench role in the upcoming season was hard. Swallowing the hard pill after spending a lot of time going back and forth on the decision Carmelo Anthony goes back on the bench with an assurance from Portland that he would still be a vital part of the team. The ten-time All-Star joined Blazers this offseason in a one-year minimum agreement.

With his last team, he was part of the starting lineup for all 58 of his appearances while has just come off the bench for eight of the matches off 1,122 career games, all the eight were with Houston Rockets in 2018. Last year he averaged 15.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. But with Robert Covington and Derrick Jones Jr., his role is subdued as he is relegated to the bench.
