Spurs lead NBA title predictions as Wembanyama targets MVP

San Antonio Spurs have emerged as favorites for the 2027 NBA championship, according to the league’s annual general manager survey released Thursday.

San Antonio received 50 percent of the votes from 30 executives, ahead of Oklahoma City with 43 percent. The New York Knicks and Philadelphia also attracted support. Last year, the Thunder dominated the poll with 80 percent.

Victor Wembanyama stole the spotlight, leading eight individual categories. The 22-year-old French center earned 77 percent of MVP votes, setting a new survey record and finishing comfortably ahead of three-time winner Nikola Jokic, who received 10 percent.

The 2023 first overall draft pick also became the overwhelming choice to build a franchise around, collecting an unprecedented 93 percent.

Meanwhile, Spurs guard Dylan Harper topped predictions for the 2026–27 season’s biggest breakout star, securing 27 percent of the votes cast by league executives nationwide.
