When Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James was cleared to play on Friday night after initially being labelled as doubtful due to a calf injury, the Portland Trail Blazers' destiny was all but sealed. Without James, the Blazers fell to the Lakers on Sunday. With James playing, they would undoubtedly lose to the Lakers. It turned out to be correct. At the Moda Centre, the Lakers defeated the Blazers 107-95 in a game where they once again showed no signs of giving up.
Although Portland trailed at 60-50 at the half, it appeared as though it may be blown out early. After Skylar Mays made a three-pointer with 7:46 remaining in the third quarter, the Blazers went on a run to cut the deficit to 68-67. 82–75 was the Lakers' lead going into the fourth quarter.
