The Utah Jazz selected Wisconsin wing John Tonje with the 53rd pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, adding him to a class that includes Ace Bailey (No. 5) and Walter Clayton Jr. (No. 18). Tonje, a 6’5”, 212-pound wing from North Omaha, Nebraska, was a versatile scorer at Wisconsin, averaging 14.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in his final season. He also led the Badgers to the NCAA Tournament and set a school record with 37 points against BYU. Tonje played a key role with the Cameroon National Team during the 2023 FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament, helping them go 4-0.
Though he transferred to Missouri in 2023–24, a recurring injury limited him to just eight games, resulting in a medical redshirt. If his shooting translates, Tonje’s size and athleticism could make him a valuable rotation piece for the Jazz.
