The Utah Jazz suffered a major setback in Monday’s 110-105 loss to Memphis, as Lauri Markkanen and Jaren Jackson Jr. both left the game injured.
Markkanen exited late in the first quarter after hurting his right wrist during a collision involving Jackson and Cam Boozer. He played just six minutes and scored two points.
Jackson followed him to the sidelines early in the second quarter after Ty Jerome accidentally landed on his right knee during a drive. The forward finished with six points, three rebounds and two assists in 10 minutes. Both players are scheduled to undergo MRI examinations on Tuesday, with coach Will Hardy admitting the team will know more after the tests.
Their potential absence would be a significant blow to Utah’s playoff ambitions. Markkanen had averaged 20.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists through three games, while Jackson was producing 19.7 points and 5.7 rebounds.
