Wagner joins Brooklyn as Nets finalize deal

Moritz Wagner is officially a Brooklyn Nets player after the NBA confirmed his transfer on Friday afternoon. The 29‑year‑old center arrives in New York as he begins a new chapter in a career launched in 2018. Wagner’s trajectory had been disrupted in 2024 by a torn ACL in his left knee, but Orlando supported him throughout rehabilitation and brought him back into the rotation the following season.

Earlier in July, Shams Charania had reported that Wagner’s move to Brooklyn was imminent, pending only the final administrative steps, which have now been completed. The 2023 World Cup champion finished last season averaging 6.9 points and 3.2 rebounds with the Magic.

Across his NBA journey, Wagner has worn the jerseys of the Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic. His arrival in Brooklyn adds veteran depth to a roster focused on development and long‑term stability.
