Hobart Hurricane trounce Melbourne Stars

Hurricanes registered a 24-run Big Bash League win over the Melbourne Stars at Bellerive Oval. Ben McDermott played a big role in the win with his knock of 67 from 43 deliveries as Hobart received a five-run penalty that was criticized by McDermott.

Stars thus started their chase for 180 at 0-5 even before a ball was bowled, the team then lost Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell in the first eight overs, and despite resistance by Joe Clarke who went 52 from 40 the team finished at 9-156. Nathan Ellis finished with 2-27 and took down power hitter Andre Russell who could just score 12 runs and help the Hurricanes win their second match from five games.
