Nepal seal Asia Cup 2027 berth with Premier Cup triumph

Nepal booked their place in the 2027 Men’s Asia Cup after defeating the United Arab Emirates in the ACC Men’s Premier Cup Final in Kuala Lumpur. The victory marks Nepal’s second appearance in the continental event, following their debut in 2023, and continues the nation’s steady rise across Asian cricket. Batting first, Nepal built a commanding total of 313 for nine, anchored by Aasif Sheikh’s superb 102 from 106 balls, with valuable contributions from Rohit Paudel and Gulshan Jha.

UAE responded with early intent through Tanish Suri’s brisk 42, but Nepal’s bowlers tightened control as Karan KC and Lalit Rajbanshi delivered crucial breakthroughs. Rahul Chopra’s unbeaten century kept UAE afloat, yet the chase ultimately fell 44 runs short. Sandeep Lamichhane claimed Player of the Series honours for his 17 wickets, while Aasif earned Player of the Match. Nepal now look ahead to facing full‑member giants India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
