Starc cleared to join Delhi as Capitals await veteran boost

Mitchell Starc has been cleared by Cricket Australia to travel to India and link up with the Delhi Capitals, giving the franchise a timely lift in the ongoing IPL. The thirty‑six‑year‑old fast bowler is expected to be available for selection for the May first clash with Rajasthan Royals. Starc had been sidelined with elbow and shoulder injuries suffered during the Australian summer, shortly after playing all five Ashes Tests in a 4‑1 series win and earning player‑of‑the‑series honours.

He then featured briefly in the Big Bash before being ruled out. Starc was not the only Australian quick to miss the tournament’s start, with Pat Cummins also yet to appear, though he is tipped to return this weekend.
