Forsaken beats Evil Geniuses in the three map series

After winning the second open bracket and notably reverse-sweeping Evil Geniuses in a three-map series, Forsaken has earned the last IEM Sydney North America closed qualification spot. The American-majority lineup has now joined M80 in qualifying for the closed qualifier round through one of the two open qualification brackets. Complexity and Nouns, who also got invitations, will take up the other two seats in the four-team tournament.

Up until their matchup with Party Astronauts in the Round of 16, where a 16-10 victory was necessary to advance, Forsaken easily navigated the bulk of the competition, collecting dominating victories. The Canadian-American team then defeated the Bad News Bears, to set up a crucial best-of-three match with Evil Geniuses which they won. The main $250,000 tournament in Australia, which will take place on October 16–23 and involves a number of tier-one teams, will only accept one participant from the IEM Sydney North America closed qualifier, which will take place on August 24–25.
