G2 advanced to the Gamers8 quarterfinals

After defeating 9INE in a three-map match, G2 advanced to the Gamers8 quarterfinals. G2 lost the first game in overtime on Vertigo (17-19), but then came back to win on Ancient (16-12) and Nuke (16-12).

G2 proved to be formidable during their winning streak at IEM Cologne, but during their debut game at Gamers8, they clearly displayed vulnerable spots in their defence. Notably, the European team allowed 6-0 and 10-6 leads on the Vertigo opening match to slip away. They also had to fight hard for their victories on Ancient and Nuke, almost allowing the Poles back into the game on the latter despite requiring six map and series points to win. G2 will face the victor of the series between FaZe and Virtus.pro on Friday at 23:30 in the quarterfinals of the Gamers8 tournament in Saudi Arabia.
