In the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown Americas semifinals, paiN stunned Liquid by defeating the Americans in a three-map match, eking out a narrow victory on Nuke (16-14), giving up a fiercely contested defeat on Anubis (14-16), ending their five-map winning streak, and sealing the series after a sloppy display of Counter-Strike on Mirage (16-12).

The Brazilians have now defeated Nick "nitr0" Cannella and crew twice in the past two weeks; Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato's team previously eliminated Nick Cannella and company from ESL Pro League Season 17 with a 2-0 victory in the first round of playoffs. Liquid will be especially frustrated in their loss against the Brazilians because they had a significant 11-2 lead over Nuke going into the match but ultimately gave up the match after 30 rounds, giving paiN an advantage that the Brazilians used to destroy Liquid's aspirations of playing in their capital city.
