Vitality defeated Cloud9 after two close maps

The defending Major winners got out to a slow start against Imperial, but they recovered to defeat Konstantin "groove" Pikiner's team and earn a berth in the quarterfinal round. The Russian team appeared to have a strong chance of at least forcing the final game, but two team kills at the map point gave Vitality the advantage and they won in two. With their most recent loss, Cloud9's spring campaign is now gone. After a difficult three months in which they were unable to win any medals at IEM Rio, IEM Dallas, or their most recent expedition in Washington, the Russian fivesome enters the off-season.

The Russians immediately dominated the offence as Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov and Timur "buster" Tulepov propelled their side to a 6-0 start in the series' opening game on Cloud9's choice of Overpass.
