Vitality is through to the Rio Semi Finals 

To advance to the $250,000 championship semifinals, Vitality overcame BIG in the first IEM Rio quarterfinal. Now, Dan "apEX" Madesclaire-led team will take on Cloud9 in the first semi-final. The Germans led by youngster Marcel "hyped" Köhn, enjoyed an 11-7 lead at one point but ultimately fell short against Vitality's heads-up CT side and rapid rotations.

On Mirage, Vitality once more triumphed in the closing moments despite BIG getting off to a strong start. After a closely contested first half, tabseN's team was the first to reach double digits, but as the game came to a close they dropped crucial rounds on the CT side that put economy firmly within Vitality's grasp, who ultimately won the second map rather easily. While Vitality moves on to the next round, BIG is ready to leave the tournament satisfied with their joint-fifth-place finish.
