Riot Games has selected Mark "MarkZ" Zimmerman to take on the role of commissioner for the professional North American League of Legends scene. Known globally for his decade-long presence in the League of Legends community, MarkZ has extensive experience both on and off-camera within the LCS.
The announcement was made through a press release and a video detailing the 2024 season for the LCS. MarkZ, who has previously worked at various levels within the LCS, will collaborate closely with Carlos Antunes, head of League esports in the Americas, to shape the vision and operational strategy for the league. While specific plans for the upcoming season weren't disclosed, MarkZ mentioned a return to scheduled weekend games instead of weekday matchups.
