Massimiliano Allegri is poised for an immediate return to the dugout after reaching a full verbal agreement to become Napoli’s new manager, according to widespread reports. The former AC Milan coach, dismissed only days ago, is expected to sign a two‑year contract to succeed Antonio Conte, who left the club by mutual consent at the end of the season.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis moved swiftly to secure Allegri, accelerating negotiations over the past 24 hours, as a cheaper coach than previous one Antonio Conte. Allegri emerged as the preferred choice ahead of other candidates, including Vincenzo Italiano, following an internal evaluation focused on restoring stability and experienced leadership. Although terms have been agreed, administrative steps must still be completed before the appointment becomes official. Allegri must also finalise matters related to his Milan departure before taking charge at new club, where he is expected to lead Napoli’s attempts to rebuild.
