Chelsea sack Liam Rosenior after awful run

Liam Rosenior's short tenure at Chelsea reaches an abrupt end. The British coach, who arrived in early January to replace Enzo Maresca, makes an early exit from the London club.

Rosenior failed to rectify the team's dismal form, which has seen them endure a particularly poor run of results recently. The now former 'Blues' boss leaves behind a negative club record: for the first time in 114 years, Chelsea have gone five consecutive Premier League matches without scoring.

Chelsea have not secured a league victory since 4 March, over a month ago, when they thrashed Aston Villa 4-1. Their dramatic slump has left them in seventh position with 48 points, trailing Liverpool in the fifth-place Champions League spot by seven points.

A 3-0 defeat to Brighton proved the final straw for the London club's board. Despite Rosenior holding a long-term contract until 2032, his tenure ended prematurely.
