Christiansen weighs future after Panama’s goal‑less exit

Panama coach Thomas Christiansen said he will take time to evaluate his future after his team exited the World Cup without scoring, finishing Group L with three straight defeats. Already eliminated before facing England, Panama again showed flashes of threat on the counter‑attack but fell 2–0, following earlier 1–0 losses to Ghana and Croatia.

Christiansen, who has led Panama in 94 matches, admitted the past six years have been taxing and stressed he must consult his family before deciding what comes next. He praised his side’s defensive resilience, noting the difficulty of competing against stronger opponents and England’s intense pressing.

Despite Panama’s organisation, chances were scarce and points never arrived. Christiansen said he was proud of the team’s structure and effort but acknowledged they lacked cutting edge. He believes regular exposure to high‑intensity matches would accelerate progress and urged the squad to recover quickly and prepare for future challenges.
