Colombian football has come to a standstill after a powerful 7.4‑magnitude earthquake struck the western region of the country on Monday, causing severe destruction and significant loss of life. Liga Dimayor announced the suspension of all professional matches scheduled for this week, prioritising national recovery efforts over sporting commitments. Authorities reported 111 fatalities and widespread damage across multiple cities, with rescue operations continuing around the clock.

The league has urged its 36 professional clubs to redirect resources toward assisting affected communities and supporting reconstruction efforts. Particular attention will be given to players, staff members, club employees and their families to ensure their safety and provide necessary aid.
