Enzo Maresca has insisted Gianluigi Donnarumma is not undroppable, even if he remains first player Manchester City manager picked this weekend.
The goalkeeper has faced scrutiny after errors early in season, with speculation intensifying after reserve Geronimo Rulli starred in League Cup win over Brighton, saving two penalties.
But Maresca made clear Donnarumma would have returned between posts when City faced third-placed Seagulls again at Etihad.
I think it is one thing to say in this moment it is Gigio plus 10, and another to say undroppable, Maresca said Friday. They are two different things. There is no player that is undroppable, but in this moment it is Gigio plus 10.
