Sadio Mané has been left out of Senegal's squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan, with head coach Patrick Vieira explaining the reasons behind the decision.
Announcing his selection on November 5, Vieira confirmed that the Al-Nassr forward's absence was neither injury-related nor a tactical choice. Instead, Mané requested permission to remain with his family because of an important personal event.
The French coach stressed that the decision was mutually agreed, expressing complete understanding and support for the experienced striker.
Mané will therefore miss both encounters against Sudan on November 12 and during the following international fixture.
Senegal will also be without midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye. However, Kalidou Koulibaly, Pape Gueye and Lamine Camara have been included, while Krépin Diatta returns. Cagliari forward Paul Mendy also receives his first international call-up, offering Vieira additional attacking options.
