Bruno Fernandes has been voted Premier League Player of the Season after delivering one of the most productive campaigns of his Manchester United career. The 31‑year‑old equalled the league’s single‑season assists record with 20, matching Thierry Henry, and added eight goals to guide Michael Carrick’s side to third place and a return to the Champions League.
Fernandes is the first United player to win the award since Nemanja Matic in 2010‑11. He finished ahead of Arsenal’s David Raya, Gabriel Magalhães and Declan Rice, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, Brentford forward Igor Thiago, Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs‑White and Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo. The Portuguese international had already been recognised by the Football Writers’ Association earlier this season.
Manchester City’s Nico O’Reilly claimed the Young Player of the Season award after emerging as a versatile option at left‑back and in midfield, scoring five goals, providing three assists and starring in both domestic cup finals.
